DMX 512 Control System Using Guides
Published: Last Updated: Estimated Reading time: 2 minsDMX512 decoder is suitable for RGB and RGBIC light strip, this article introduces how to use with RGB light strip.DMX512 is a digital control protocol widely used in stage lighting, sound and special effects equipment, the full name is Digital Multiplex.
Core features:
1. digital signals
Replacement of earlier analog signals (e.g., 0~10V voltage control). Strong anti-interference, more stable transmission. Data format: each channel accounts for 1 byte (0~255), which can represent brightness, color, position and other parameters. 2.
2. High channel count
supports up to 512 independent control channels, a single DMX packet can control up to 512 devices (e.g. lamps, projectors, smoke machines).
3. Asynchronous serial communication
Transmission rate: 250kbps (250,000 bits per second)
Physical interface: use 3-pin XLR connector
4. Real-time
Low latency, suitable for wide range of lighting.
Advantages
Strong anti-interference, long distance transmission (up to 1000 meters)
Support large-scale equipment linkage
Strong compatibility, low cost of equipment
Disadvantages
Single transmission of only 512 channels of data
Extension of channels required by additional protocols (e.g. Art-Net)
Real-time dependence on network stability
